According to the traditional beliefs, elf men were mediators between the world of fairies and the world of people.

They had great strength, knowledge, and power, given to them by the fairies themselves.

Mijo Kovacic is one of the greatest Croatian naive artists known for his everlasting black hat with a huge rim and painting the landscapes of Podravina and the river Drava - with fishermen, hunters, egg thieves and gold diggers, as well as surreal and phantasmagoric motifs inspired by Podravina mythology.
